FAMILY SYNONYMOUS TO ETHICS: PRERNA

Family words hold different meanings for every single person. For some family means mom dad sis bro, for others family means grandparents too and for some others family includes every single person in their day to day life including driver, gardener, cook etc. It really depends on the people. But for me family means a bond, a bond for which you don't need any blood related proof. For me, family is where I started my roots, my morals, my inspiration, my everything. Family doesn't mean the counting of heads at the dining table, it's about the ethics, rituals and the traditions we share, the memories we create. 

If someone would have asked about two years before that if you imagine yourself sitting at your home no school no colleges no jobs, world becoming still, we would have probably laughed at that person and the the given scenario. But here we are in the same inexplicable scenario, everyone locked in their houses, the only positive thing that this pandemic gave us is the time to be with our families. In this busy schedule and rush of a life we often forget what it's like to be with family, to spend our time with them. There's not even a time for a daily call. In the chaos of colleges, jobs, schools and living alone with hell of responsibilities, the time we spend with the family has become less and less. So here is the opportunity to hear our grandparents stories once again, to play indoor games instead of phones and laptops, to eat mom's food instead of hotels and messes, to discuss news with dad and granddad. These things we would have missed if it was not for this time period. These are the things that make us US. 

So for me family is someone I can put my arms around in my most difficult situations and feel safe and protected like nothing in this world could ever do anything bad to me. We often forget to appreciate our loved ones thinking we have all the time in the world but we should take this time as a lesson that anything can happen in the future. We should not take anyone, including our family , for granted. The small small things - waking up with sis and bro , mom's food, early morning exercises with dad, evening aarti with dadi, fights with little bro and sis, this is what family means for me. As much as they try to annoy us, irritate us, control us, at the end we know they are the only person who loves us to their bones, who would do anything for us, who knows us the best. 

However, a different meaning of FAMILY may be there for every person but the thing that is common is all LOVE, the basic connection the basic concept of every family is Love. “Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.” –Jane Howard
